Joint Statement – Equality betrayed: Commission unilaterally gives up on anti-discrimination law
AGE co-signed a joint statement urging the European Commission to reconsider its intention to withdraw the Equal Treatment Directive and to make an unequivocal commitment to turning the Union of Equality into a reality for all.
EU steps back on Equality Protection: Commission withdraws Horizontal Equal Treatment Directive
AGE is deeply disappointed and concerned about this decision, which represents a significant step back in the fight against discrimination, including on the grounds of age, and the protection of older people’s rights.
Why is there no standalone Commissioner on Equality?
AGE is deeply worried by the lack of a dedicated portfolio on equality, which runs against EU’s commitments and founding values. We call on Members of the European Parliament to act fast to rectify this issue.
