We need non-discrimination, civil dialogue, sustainable future & intergenerational cooperation as Commission’s top priorities !

Non-discrimination, civil dialogue, sustainable future and intergenerational cooperation need to be EU top priorities ! older persons across Europe urge Commission President candidate.

In view of the statement and vote on the election of the candidate for the Presidency of the European Commission, Dr Ursula von der Leyen, AGE Platform Europe has addressed on an open letter to the candidate, calling for a Europe for all ages and intergenerational exchange as a tool to bridge the growing polarisation in the EU.

Based on the Final Declaration of the 2019 AGE General Assembly and AGE’s Manifesto for the European elections, we ask the future European Commission to focus on the following priorities to guarantee a future to everyone in an ageing Europe:

• Strengthen legal protection against non-discrimination
• Commit to a culture of civil dialogue
• Commit to an environmentally and socially sustainable future
• Enhance intergenerational dialogue and cooperation
