In December 2017, the European Commission adopted the decision of setting up a High-level group of experts on pensions for a mandate of 18 months starting in July 2018.
The mission of the group will be to provide policy advice to the Commission on how to improve the provision, safety through prudential rules, intergenerational balance, adequacy and sustainability of supplementary (occupational and personal) pensions. The group will also contribute to the public debate on pensions and will promote the exchange of best practices and mutual learning in Member States in relation to the promotion of supplementary pensions, on a cross-border basis.
This small expert group consists of members representing stakeholders in pensions, academics, social partners, European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the European Commission. AGE Secretary-General, Anne-Sophie Parent, has been appointed as representative of AGE Platform Europe. The full composition of this new advisory group is available here.
We are pleased to be part of the EU High-level expert group and hope that our nomination will help us advance key issues of interest to current and future pensioners, in particular in relation to adequate old age income, the gender pension gap and equal access to supplementary pensions.
