Our Network extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of our dear colleague, Dr Peter Kostelka, President of the Austrian Pensioners’ Association (PVÖ).

Peter Kostelka, who led the Austrian Pensioners’ Association since 2018, was a committed and respected advocate for older people in Austria. He worked with dedication and conviction, representing the interests of pensioners with determination, compassion, respect, and sensitivity.

"Through his negotiating skills, eloquence, and assertiveness, he succeeded in implementing numerous improvements for the older generation and their families during his tenure as President of the PVÖ and President of the Austrian Senior Citizens' Council. One of Kostelka's major professional and personal goals was to end age discrimination in Austria. Kostelka was able to implement significant improvements in this area, including a law prohibiting banks from denying credit to individuals based on their age."

We echo the words of the Austrian Pensioners’ Association and emphasise that Peter Kostelka leaves a huge gap – not only professionally, but also personally and humanly – for his commitment to ending age discrimination in Austria and at the EU level.
