Six national online public platforms now available to comment draft European Standards

One way for older people’s organisations to promote accessibility is participating in the standardisation work in the field of accessibility and e-accessibility. We therefore welcome the launch by six national standardization bodies (NSBs) of user-friendly online platforms which will make it easier for stakeholders (consumer and user associations, industry, federations, certification bodies, etc.) to participate in the European standardisation processes.

One of the vital stages in the development of a European Standard is the public enquiry, a five-month period which allows stakeholders to provide input to the process. Thanks to online platforms, interested parties will now be able to access draft standards and submit comments via the internet in six countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Latvia, Norway and Spain. The six national standardization bodies are partners in a project supported by the EU’s Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and coordinated by the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre.
