Ahead of the election of a new European Parliament (EP) in 2019, a number of European Civil Society organisations have joined forces to take stock of the action taken by the European Parliament since its last election in 2014 and check if the initial promises have been fulfilled.
Launched by the European Movement, the European Youth Forum and IHECS, the www.OnOurWatch.eu platform assesses the work done by MEPs in a number of issues in order to inform and debate with citizens and shed light on what still needs to be done before the end of the ongoing EP mandate.
From 29th September to 1st October a hackathon will bring together activists, journalists, Data Visualisation specialists and coders to further look at the work of the EP in a more creative and attractive way: https://onourwatch.eu/events/
AGE is contributing to this initiative to bring older people’s perspective in the debate. We seize the occasion to reiterate our calls for a better protection of older persons’ rights, greater awareness of elder abuse, better health prevention, healthier and more inclusive work places, better work-life balance, a strong European Pillar of Social Rights and an ambitious Accessibility Act that effectively meets older people’s needs on the ground.
