European Commission Report on the Impact of Demographic Change in Europe

ImpactOfDemographicChange-ECreport-Jun20-cover. The European Commission has adopted its Report on the Impact of Demographic Change. The report, published on 17 June 2020, shows the long-term demographic trends in Europe, the differences across EU countries, and the need to address the impact of the demographic change on growth and sustainability, employment, health and long-term care in different parts of Europe.

The report kick-starts the work of the European Commission on impacts of demographic change and will help identify how the people, regions and communities most affected can best be supported. It will also provide the foundation for the upcoming Green Paper on Ageing and Long-term Vision for Rural Areas, mentioned in the Mission letter of Dubravka Šuica, Vice-President-designate for Democracy and Demography last September 2019.

(This report is also available in French and German.)
