Although free circulation within the European Union is today a reality, access to financial services from one EU country to another can still be complicated due to a lack of harmonisation.
0n 23rd March 2017 the European Commission published an action plan setting out a strategy to strengthen the European single market for retail financial services. The main objective is to develop the potential of digitalisation and technology to improve European consumers’ access to financial services and enhance competition to provide greater choice and lower prices.
