AGE – Contribution to the revision of the clinical trials directive

11 May 2011

The European Commission is planning to put forward, in 2012, a legislative proposal to revise the Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC.

Considering the recent development regarding geriatric medicines, particular the decision made by the European Medicine Agency (EMA) in February 2011 to launch a geriatric medicines strategy, AGE Platform Europe considered this revision of the directive has an opportunity to support this new strategy and decided to focus its contribution on the need to improve participation of older people in clinical trials of medicines commonly used for geriatric patients.

The contribution is available here: WORD Format, PDF Format
