Organised by AGE German organisation BAGSO (Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Senioren-Organisationen e.V.) with the participation of Chancelor Dr. Angela Merkel, the 3-day German Seniors’ fair will feature informative and interactive 100 events on a number of ageing issues such as health and care, citizens’ social and political participation, housing and wellbeing. It will also include on 2 July 2015 a session held by AGE Platform Europe on the EU Project „AFE-INNOVNET: Innovation for age-friendly environments”.
This project aims at mobilising a EU-wide community of local and regional authorities and other stakeholders to support the scaling-up of innovative solutions to support active and healthy ageing. The session will be an opportunity to discuss with representatives of local/regional authorities, the industrial sector, civil society and researchers on how to build a successful partnership towards an age-friendly Europe.
Challenging the alarmist assumption that population ageing is a burden, another approach is gaining visibility at EU level and is inspired by the World Health Organization’s views that the physical and social environments are key determinants of whether people can remain healthy, independent and autonomous long into their old age. To support the scaling up of existing and future innovative age-friendly environments across the EU, a large group of partners have set up a thematic network on innovation for Age-Friendly Environments, AFE-INNOVNET project, to connect key stakeholders and determine how different partners can work together to achieve that goal, namely, an age-friendly Europe, which is fair for all generations. The session will be an opportunity to gather and discuss with representatives of public authorities, the industrial sector, civil society and researchers on how to build a successful partnership towards an age-friendly Europe”? Interpretation English – German will be available.
