WeDO2 project tested and discussed trainings on quality care

Launched in September 2013, the WeDO2 project organised from 18 to 20 March a meeting in Bonn, Germany, in which the partners tested a first set of training tools and discussed a module on implementing change. The partners had a study visit in Köln where they met several organisations acting for the wellbeing and dignity of older persons in need of care: The Seniors’ network, The Federal Initiative Dementia Service of North-Rhine Westphalia, and the Dementia+art e.V. which organises activities for persons with dementia in the Museum Ludwig. The partners will now start to test the training modules in their respective countries and meet in Athens for the Panhellenic Conference of Gerontology and Geriatrics in October.

WeDO2 (or We do, too!) aims at ‘supporting the exchange of learning experiences and good practices between organisations working in the field of formal, non-formal or informal adult education (older people and/or informal carers’ organisations, universities, training centers, service providers) to improve the ability of different stakeholders (older people, informal caregivers, service providers) to cooperate in planning and delivering long-term care services and so to improve the quality of life for older people in need of care and assistance. Based on the existing European Quality framework for long-term care services, developed in the WeDO project (2010-2012), the project will also seek to develop with a participatory approach new educational tools – an online train the trainer toolkit, learning areas where trainings will be tested – adapted to different groups.
