Commissions launches consultation on the working time directive

The European Commission has launched a public consultation in view of revising the Working Time Directive (2003/88/EC), a directive setting minimum standards on working hours per week, annual leave, rest periods and special provisions regarding night work, on-call working time and standby periods.

The working time directives concerns the situation of older workers, in particular older women who face difficulties in combining their job with the care for dependent relatives. Also, flexibility in reducing working time towards the end of the career can enable older workers to stay longer in the labour market. AGE will therefore prepare a response to the consultation.

The public consultation is open to anyone until 15 March 2015.
