The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, in collaboration with Bled Strategic Forum, held an International Conference on Ageing under the titleAgeing: Rights for Empowermentin Slovenia in Brdo, Slovenia, on 11 and 12 April 2016. The conference attracted a wide range of participants, from the region and beyond, includingrepresentatives of states, international organisations, legal experts and civil society. The Conference on the rights of older people marks the beginning of the Ministry’s EU campaign#EU4HUMANRIGHTS.
The objective of the event was to take stock of the existing normative framework and identify key challenges of international response to ageing, while providing an opportunity to exchange best practices. It brought together representatives of states, international organizations, legal experts and civil society, the Conference who contributed to a discussion at the global level.
