Web and mobile guide of accessible places

Jaccede.com: a free collaborative guide of accessible places

The French non-profit association Jaccede.com created in 2006 a guide available on the internet (www.jaccede.com/fr) and as mobile application (Jaccede Mobile for iphone and Android) mapping the places accessible to people with reduced mobility in order to help them move around and take an active part in their community. This innovative application, which is directly fed by its users, now includes over 28000 places in France and abroad and is translated into 4 languages (FR, EN, ES and DE).

From 9 to 17 September two volunteers with reduced mobility, together with their 2 trip companions travelled over 5 large European cities in order to promote accessibility and identify good practices on the ground. The journey ended in Brussels on 18 September with a meeting between the founding President of Jaccede.com and Mrs Viviane Redding, Vice-President of the European Commission. 20 local organisations supported the initiatives in accommodating the 4 travelers or in organising accessible places mapping sessions on Jaccede Mobile in their respective cities.
