Green Paper on Ageing: ILC-UK calls for a concerted EU response to ageing

ILC-UK-logo The International Longevity Centre-UK (ILC-UK) has co-signed an open letter to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to welcome the publication of the EU Green Paper on Ageing and make recommendations for a successful follow-up. The letter is initiated by the International Longevity Centre Europe Network (ILC Europe Network), a European network working on the impact of longevity on society, and of which ILC-UK is a member.

The 18 signatories hail in particular the focus on health prevention at all stages of life and join AGE Platform Europe’s call for an EU White Paper on Ageing to help “translate the important values of the Green Paper into action”. They end up insisting on the economic benefit of increased longevity, which means that people can contribute longer to society as workers, consumers, volunteers and carers.
