BAGSO co-organizes national award to promote use of digital technology in old age
The award aimed to spotlight initiatives developed by and with older people in order to promote the use of the wide spectrum of digital media in three categories: everyday use of digital media in old age, social commitment with the help of online applications and training of senior citizens in the field of information technology. A special intergenerational prize ‘Jung and old - together online’ was also handed out to three initiatives.
Welcoming the large number of participants (130 applications from all over Germany), Mr Gerd Billen, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for justice and consumer protection and sponsor of the award, stressed the need for senior people to take part in the digital development. He also reminded the important part played by the prize winners as role models, wishing them ‘as many imitators as possible’.
