The Golden Generation?: New report on well-being and inequalities in later age

The report published by the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub and the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) presents the findings and policy recommendations from the 5-year ‘Frailty, Resilience and Inequality in Later Life’ programme, which aimed at providing an integrated understanding of processes that lead to both positive and negative outcomes in later life, and how these outcomes are shaped by inequalities. It has considered factors operating at particular points of the life-course – be they genetic, metabolic, psychological or social – and how these are framed by socioeconomic inequalities. It notably underlines the links between inequalities and socio-economic position, ethnicity, gender, and where you live, and the different impact retirement, volunteering or care obligations have on people with various financial means,
