The World Consumer Rights Day on 15 March is an annual occasion for promoting the basic rights of all consumers and demanding that those rights are respected and protected. To mark that day, CEN (European Committee for Standardization), CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) and ANEC – the European consumer voice in standardization –joined forces to raise awareness of the increasing relevance of European standards to enhance safety, protect the environments and meet consumers’ needs.

They have jointly released an infographic highlighting the 8 basic consumers’ rights and the role of EU standards in meeting those rights:

  • Right to be informed
  • Right to choose
  • Right to be heard
  • Right to redress
