Open EU consultation on the access to social protection in all forms of employment – Have your say!

Public consultation icon The European Commission is launching a public consultation on a possible EU action to address the challenges of accessing social protection for people in all forms of employment in the framework of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

During the public consultation on the European Pillar of Social Rights launched in 2016, many stakeholders expressed concerns regarding the obstacles faced by people on non-standard employment and self-employment in accessing social protection (e.g. unemployment benefits, sickness benefits, disability benefits, pensions, etc.) and employment services (ex: training, career counselling).

As a response to these concerns, The European Commission is launching this consultation to gather further views from interested stakeholders on the challenges, options and impacts of the access to social protection in Europe and on the development and implementation of a range of possible tools at EU-level in that area.

The public consultation is open to all stakeholders until 15 January 2018. The participation of organisations with an interest in social protection matters (e.g. governments, public authorities, companies, etc.) is particularly welcomed.

The consultation results will inform the preparation of the Commission’s non-legislative / legislative proposals.
