On 22 May, AGE participated in the European Multi-Stakeholder Platform (MSP) on ICT Standardisation – an Advisory Expert Group to the European Commission on matters related to European ICT Standardisation and its effective implementation. AGE is a member of European Multistakeholder Platform on ICT Standardisation which was was set up at the end of 2011 to advise on matters related to the implementation of ICT standardisation policies.
The platform deals with:
- potential future ICT standardisation needs in support of European legislation, policies and public procurement;
- technical specifications for public procurements, developed by global ICT standards developing organisations;
- cooperation between ICT Standards Setting Organisations;
- the Rolling Plan, which provides a multi-annual overview of the needs for preliminary or complementary ICT standardisation activities in support of the EU policy activities.
Our participation in the meeting mainly provided our input to the Rolling Plan which focuses on how ICT standards and specifications can support EU policies across all different Commission Directorates. The Rolling Plan is part of what was introduced with Regulation 1025/2012. It was developed by the European Commission in close collaboration with the EU ICT Multi-Stakeholder Platform, with the involvement of the EU Member States, Industry, European and global standards bodies, and societal stakeholders such as AGE, EDF and ANEC.
During this summer, the Rolling Plan will be revised and AGE will provide its feedback on the plan for ICT standards bodies of how policy making in Europe can be supported by standardisation.
