Join AFE-INNOVNET webinar 'Synergies towards an age-friendly Europe' on 15 June
Many projects have recently been undertaken or are currently under way that share the overarching goal to understand and explain the consequences of demographic change in Europe and what local and regional authorities can do to more efficiently address the demographic challenges that the world is now facing. The European institutions are encouraging all relevant stakeholders to work together, which is what the partners of AFE-INNOVNET are doing.
For this webinar, we will have the pleasure to welcome different speakers who will present the results of their respective work in the European context. Our goal during this webinar will be to determine how their achievements and conclusions could be applied to the work carried out in the framework of the AFE-INNOVNET project. Policy and Project Coordinator for Health, New Technologies and Accessibility, Julia Wadoux, will moderate the discussion.
- Manfred HUBER – Coordinator Healthy Ageing, Disability and Long-term Care at WHO Regional Office for Europe: The WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission (DG Employment) are working on the "Age-friendly Environments in Europe" project (AFEE), which will produce a guide on creating age-friendly environments that is adapted to the European context.
- Setsuko SAYA, Head of the Regional Policies for Sustainable Development Division at OECD: The OECD published a report "Ageing in Cities" which explores the roles of cities in ageing societies, both in overcoming the challenges and in making the most of the opportunities presented by this demographic change. It assesses ageing trends in the OECD area and tries to answer to the questions: "what impact do ageing societies have on sustainable urban development? How can cities bring together all the relevant actors to design and implement integrated policies for ageing societies?"
