Get ENGAGED: Join the Community for Active and Healthy Ageing

ENGAGED is a Thematic Network financed to build a learning community of stakeholders across Europe to nurture the emergence of innovative and sustainable active and healthy ageing services that make best use of technology. The project aims at working in close relationship to the European Innovation Parternship on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA).

This network encompasses stakeholders from different backgrounds and from different European countries, who are interested in learning from each other and together supporting the further deployment of innovative solutions to promote active and healthy ageing.

Kicked-off in February 2013, ENGAGED has already led a Mutual Learning Workshop on Innovative Procurement and displayed its activism at the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Forum in September 2013.

The Consortium and the Associated Partners are currently working on the clustering of stakeholders at European and regional level, and on a roadmap for the targeted deployment of solutions in selected European regions, while getting ready for the upcoming Conference on the European Innovation Partnership for Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA).

A growing Community of Stakeholders

Key in the establishment process of any community is the communication of its activities and the share of information among its members and beyond.

Complying with this idea and in order to reach out European stakeholders at all level, the ENGAGED newsletter has been issued in October 2013: this first release points out the main achievements of the network and the project so far, namely its Mutual Learning Workshop in Puglia and its planned User Forum in Eindhoven, the connection with the EIP AHA and its Action Groups, the work on the Roadmap and the stakeholders’ clustering. The second project newsletter further underlines the opening of the ENGAGED community: almost twelve months of work, which means ENGAGED is at the crossroads of its first year, and its network has been growing in size and in activism. Its community now encompasses a number of associated partners, interested in the project and plenty of other active connections within the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing.

But ENGAGED is moving beyond this point.Ageing is high on the agenda for both European politicians and those working in the healthcare sector. It is important that more awareness on age-related issue is raised.

Therefore the ENGAGED network calls on volunteers to act as projectAmbassadors, to promote ENGAGED’s objectives and work in the political forums, relevant conferences and workshops that they attend. Ambassadors will be supported in their work by briefings ahead of specific events, regular updates on ENGAGED’s work, and slide-packs. The second newsletter stresses the opening of the ENGAGED

Building a community needs the involvement of interested partners, willing to contribute and willing to learn from the work in progress of the community itself.

The ENGAGED Community is an open one, so if you also aim at:

– Raising awareness on innovation and age-friendly environments

– Promoting the transferability of evidence around what works and what doesn’t

– Supporting regions to cooperate at regional level and implement innovative models and services

Then JOIN THE COMMUNITY!
