The event welcomed the participation of the President of the Portuguese Republic and addressed future challenges in relation to ageing, including issues such as pensions and social security, violence, happiness and quality of life, environment and the use of new technologies in health.

Mr Johansen presented AGE platform Europe, its mission and priorities, and gave an overview of the European Covenant on Demographic Change.
Our Vice-President was also interviewed by the major Portuguese newspaper Público, in which he explained that 'It's not age that defines when we stop being active but health', and highlighted the importance and benefit of enabling older people to stay active and independent for longer.
