AGE France contributes to 2015 National Reform Programme

AGE France, the coordination of older people’s organisations in France, has published its contribution to this year’s National Reform Programme. In a 20-page document, AGE France advises to continue to improve the efficiency of public spending by reducing the costs of functioning of the institutions without lowering social benefits. AGE France calls for a uniform pension system and for more concrete action on older person’s labour market participation.

Our French members also stress the need for a real strategy on older people’s employment and raise the concern of growing old-age poverty, especially amongst older women and older migrants. Other demands include the recognition of older people’s purchasing-power as an economic resource that should be safeguarded, for the inclusion of long-term care risk into social secuity, and the adaptation of living environments to support the autonomy of older persons.
