The prize-giving ceremony of the second edition of the Vodafone Foundation Smart Accessibility Awards, run in collaboration with AGE and the European Disability Forum (EDF) with a view to increase understanding of the needs and expectations of ageing and disabled users of smartphones, will take place on 17 December 2012 in Brussels.

The 12 selected finalists will present their application to the jury and the best smartphone application will be awarded in each of the four categories: social participation; independent living; mobility and wellbeing.

Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, will hold a keynote speech at the occasion.

The programme is supported and co-organized by AGE Platform Europe, the European network of around 165 organisations of and for people aged 50+, and the European Disability Forum (EDF), the NGO that represents the interests of 80 million Europeans with disabilities.
