15 countries adopt common research agenda on demographic change

As part of the Joint Programming Initiative (JPI) More Years, Better Lives – The Potential and Challenges of Demographic Change, 14 European countries and Canada have adopted a Strategic Research Agenda, covering the wide scope of issues related to demographic change and aimed at informing policy.

The JPI “More Years, Better Lives” is now preparing the implementation of theStrategic Research Agenda. The success of the initiative requires active participation of national governments and funding agencies with joint activities such as joint calls as well as alignment of their respective research policies and programmes.

The objectieve of the Joint Programming Initiatives is to enable member countries to coordinate their research on specific societal challenges more closely. Several have been launched so far to collectively address key issues.
