 The Ambient Assisted Living Forum is not yet another conference about ageing, but the world’s largest living lab!

What for? To change the perception of ageing, to provide a different view of age. Come to Odense and assist to DJ Ruth Flowers’s performance to get a taste of it: also known as Mamyrock, this 70-year old English woman will be on the decks entertaining in the sounds of electro-rock music, showing each of us a different perspective of ageing. And MAmyrock will not be the only way presented.

Thus, the AAL forum goes well beyond presenting new technologies and bringing together the main stakeholders in the area of AAL.

You will be able to experience technology! Participants with be equipped with a gadget that can locate them in the forum rooms, provide them with guidance and up-to-date information about the sessions, as well as allow them to vote,  change information in their profile in the AAL forum website, connect with friends and of course increase networking possibilities.  A showcase that the benefits from using smart technologies outline the risks.

Among the keynote speakers, one can count Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for the European Digital Agenda; Meglena Kuneva, former Commissioner of protection at the European Commission; John Beard, director of the Department of Ageing and Life Course at the WHO in Geneva and Patricia A. Moore an internationally renowned gerontologist who travelled around the U.S. and Canada for three years disguised as an old lady, capturing people’s perceptions of old age.

Meanwhile, AGE Platform Europe will have a high visibility in this event. Besides being invited as speakers for the parallel track sessions, AGE President, Liz Mestheneos and AGE Director, Anne-Sophie Parent will take part in the plenary session participating in the official opening of the event and in the high-level panel discussion on the Economic crisis, demographic change and smart solutions respectively. In addition, AGE experts were invited in discussions to be held in the framework of the track on User Engagement and Ethics, as well as the Workshop on the Dreaming project, in which AGE manages the Advisory Board.

In parallel with the various tracks (Market, Economy, Innovation; Research for AAL purposes; Technology, Platforms, Standards, Interoperability; AAL in National & Regional Politics; AAL - The Viking way; Changing the model of innovation through user engagement; Robotics enabled Assistive Living; AAL Joint Programme Topics and basics) more than 10 AAL Projects will be presented in the AAL Project Village, while in the big arena of the Odense Congress Centre, the Innovation World will be set up. The Innovation World showcases around 28 projects from the public, private and academic sectors and enables participants to experience a wide range of AAL technologies in real living conditions. Everyone can have a walk in the real-size smart apartment, try out tele-health devices or interact with robots.
