AGE considers that the renewed Social Agenda should propose a European Year on Intergenerational Solidarity to be celebrated in 2012. It should also propose to hold a bi-annual event on intergenerational solidarity during the light years of the bi-annual cycle on demography. AGE also calls for the renewed Social Agenda to propose concrete actions to promote a more vivid civil dialogue at EU and national level with clear targets and objectives.
The renewed Social Agenda should also include a concrete commitment to mainstream both the gender and ageing dimension in all areas of work, and it should encompass a European Strategy against elder abuse and develop voluntary quality standards for long term care services.
