AGE warmly welcomes the Slovene Presidency and especially its focus on addressing demographic challenges, and on promoting the opportunities arising from close cooperation between the different generations. In particular, AGE welcomes the special emphasis the Presidency places on intergenerational solidarity in the fields of employment, social affairs and equal opportunities.

AGE looks forward to the Slovene Presidency conference on 29-30 April 2008 which will consider long-term care from an intergenerational perspective and cooperation. This event is particularly timely given the increasing importance of intergenerational solidarity in Europe’s rapidly ageing societies. AGE looks forward to participating in its discussions and anticipates a concrete and lasting outcome from this conference.
