The workshop comes out of a EU-funded project, DEMHOW (Demographic change and housing wealth). The project is intended to explore some of the policy issues around using wealth held in the form of home ownership to make a contribution to the income needs of older Europeans. It thus fits firmly within the sphere of interest of the European Union’s current Green Paper: toward adequate, sustainable and safe European pension systems, and it is intended that the workshop will feed into the consultation process. The draft agenda (see attached file) indicates that the workshop will include a mixture of presentation of research findings from the DEMHOW project, panel discussion with people involved in policy making, and contributions from other participants.
