AGE was represented at the first meeting of the Fundamental Rights Platform on 7-8 October. This Platform has recently been established by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights as a forum for dialogue with civil society.

AGE welcomes the opportunities provided as a member of this Platform for a mutually beneficial cooperation and information exchange. In particular, AGE welcomes the substantive role that the Platform can play in raising awareness of age discrimination and in increasing knowledge and understanding on rights issues which are of direct concern to Europe’s growing older populations.

AGE is keen to profit to the full from a mutually beneficial partnership and exchange of information on fundamental rights and the promotion of non-discrimination on all grounds, in particular on age. AGE is pleased that the proposals it made in its response to the Agency's 'Civil Society Consultation : Suggestions to the FRA Work Programme 2009 are included in FRA's Report on the Public Consultation July-August 2008.

A report on the Platform meeting of 7-8 October is available below.
