- The HALDE (Haute Autorité de Lutte contre les Discriminations et pour l'Egalité) dealt with a case where an older employee was not allowed to buy additional semesters to get a better pension because he was older than 60. HALDE considers that older people should be able to buy back such time and recommends the abrogation of the condition of age.

- Although Portugal maintains the employment rate of older adults above the desirable (50.6%) this rate has fallen 0.9% since 2002. To reverse this situation, the recently approved "Labour Relations" either exempt or reduce taxes for unemployed people aged 55 and over who return to the labour market and also for their employers. The document also states that grandmothers are allowed to take leave to care for their grandchildren.
